As Chair of the Scholarship Committee, I am pleased to announce that MATRA has awarded two scholarships for the academic year 2018-2019 in the amount of $3,000.00 each to Ms.Emily Charnecke and Mr. Harrison Riddell.
Emily Charnecke attends the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where she is a Business/Finance major, Spanish minor, presently scheduled to graduate in May, 2021. Emily has worked for her father, Kenneth Charnecke, of Charnecke Tents/CCC Washers Inc., where we are certain her degree will be helpful. A National Honors Society member, Emily also participates in ArtsCore Club and plays Basketball. In addition to her employment at Charnecke Tents/CCC Washers Inc., Emily has had many other outside jobs to assist her in saving for her college educational funding.
Harrison is a returning applicant! He received a scholarship award in 2015 while pursuing his undergrad degree. Currently, he is attending Northeastern University pursuing his Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering. Employed by Special Events of New England when he not in school, Harrison intends to utilize his Engineering degree as it relates to industrial machinery and its efficient use in the tent rental industry. In addition, he is also interested in the development of a virtual environment application for the design and placement of a tent prior to installation. He is a recipient of the Northwestern University Dean's Scholarship and also participates in the USF Bazillion Jiu Jitsu Club, is a member of the Tau Betta Pi Engineering Honor Society, a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. For Community Service, he participates in Northeastern University ENTER Internship Program, an Organic Semiconductor Lab Assistant, a BAE Systems Intern and serves as an Electrical Engineering Tutor.
We congratulate both of these very commendable recipients and wish them the best of luck in all of their future endeavors.
