MATRA Scholarship ProgramThe Scholarship Program was created in 2011 under the leadership of former MATRA President, John Creedon of Creedon & Co. as a benefit for our members, their employees and their families. In 2012, we began to solicit funds to build the Program. The goal to start was $7,500 - and we surpassed that goal three-fold, raising over $21,000 in our first year. Since 2013, we’ve awarded over $87,500 in scholarships to members, their employees, and their family members. In 2024, MATRA will award THREE $7,500 scholarships. Delaware Community Foundation (DCF)In 2017, the Board of Directors elected to move the administration of the Scholarship Program to the Delaware Community Foundation (DCF), a philanthropic and charitable fund organization. Through this 501 (c)(3) foundation, donations and disbursements are managed by DCF. DCF's team of qualified professors review and manage the scholarship applications and scoring process without bias. They determine the MATRA Scholarship Program award recipients based on this scoring process and inform the MATRA Scholarship Committee of their selections. Eligibility and Application ProcessApplicants must be associated with a MATRA member company as one of the following: 1) a current full-time employee, 2) immediate family of a current employee, or 3) a current part-time or seasonal employee of a member company who is nominated by the company. The member company (rental or vendor) must be a current member, with dues paid in full by March 1, for a consecutive two-year period. Each year, the DCF begins accepting applications in mid-December. Deadline to receive the scholarship application and corresponding materials is mid-March through the DCF website. In order to complete the application process, you’ll need to create an account on the DCF website and get login credentials prior to obtaining any application information. Once you have created your login credentials, you’ll be able to access your application at any time prior to the deadline, while you are completing the application information. If you have any questions or need additional information, please reach out to Sue Werb, CSEP, MATRA Administrative Assistant at swerb@tteam.org or (302) 234-0273.
